PATH Welcomes Four New Members
| We are pleased to welcome four new members into PATH:
1) German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV) Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, DWV is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to "promote and prepare the general introduction of hydrogen as an energy carrier in the economy. (DWV) supports research and development to contribute to a solution of the future energy problems and the protection of the foundations of our existence." DWV is integral for bringing together leaders in industry, research organizations, and related sectors to advance Germany's hydrogen program.

2) Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (H2IT)
H2IT was formed on 19 June 2003 in Milan, Italy. The organization's goals are to "stimulate and develop the market for the use of hydrogen, to create a strong industry voice of companies and institutes involved in the sector, and to secure a leading role for Italy in the world market." Contact: Marieke Reijalt, Managing Director, www.H2IT.org
3) Taiwan Association for Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell The Taiwan Association for Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell represents the interests of the hydrogen community, principally in the academic sector, of the island of Taiwan. The Association is headquartered at Mingdao University.
Contact: Dr. Da-Yung Wang, President, http://www.mdu.edu.tw
4) Sahara Wind Sahara Wind Inc. joined PATH as an Interim Member representing the hydrogen interests in the west African nations of Morocco and Mauritania, as neither of these countries have hydrogen associations of their own. Sahara Wind has been working with local universities in west Africa, in partnership with local utilities, to deploy infrastructure needed to generate hydrogen from wind, a renewable resource quite abundant in the Sahara Desert.
Sahara Wind's long-term plan is to launch individual hydrogen associations in Morocco and Mauritania.

PATH Position Statements - LinkedIn Discussion Topic
|
This month's discussion topic: PATH Position Statements PATH Position Statements address topical issues concerning the hydrogen and fuel cell industry. The purpose is to highlight at a low cost the issues facing this industry, facilitate a healthy debate on those issues, and bring them to resolution. What issues, challenges, etc. do you believe deserve a PATH Position Statement? Did you know PATH has a LinkedIn page for open forum-style discussion? Log into www.LinkedIn.com (first-time users will need to create a username and password) and enter "Partnership for Advancing the Transition to Hydrogen" in the "Groups" line at the top of the screen. |

PATH Program Update
| |
PATH is seeking industry/association sponsorship for current and future Position Statements. Here is a brief set of examples: PATH Position Statements
a.) Electric Mobility PATH's Position Statement on Electric Mobility seeks to make the case to select target audiences and governments supportive of battery electric vehicles that hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are just as efficient and should be considered equally as a carbon-free method of transportation. Read More >> ACTION: Please use the position statement as your organization and its members see fit for the select target audiences within your country.
b.) Deep Sea Drilling (In Draft Form) Ahead of the upcoming 16th U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol, Conference of the Parties (COP 16), PATH Chairman Terry Kimmel has drafted a Position Statement to explain how hydrogen fuel may become an increasingly important environmentally-clean commodity as the world's demand for energy increases over the next two decades. The draft Position Statement is currently being circulated within the Board of Directors.
PATH's goal is to have the final Position Statement approved by the General Assembly in time and released to the public before the COP16 Climate Change Conference begins.
Attention: PATH will provide draft Position Statement on Deep Sea Drilling soon for Representatives and Alternates. Please provide comments and recommendations at that point in time.
Please consider supporting PATH Position Statements. Contact Brian Schorr at bschorr@ttcorp.com for details.
