Introduction to the Hydrogen Energy Systems Society of Japan

The Hydrogen Energy Systems Society of Japan (HESS) was established almost thirty years ago, in July of 1973, to promote the importance of hydrogen energy systems. Headquartered at Yokohama University, HESS remains the leading center for hydrogen energy research in Japan. HESS is a center for research and development for ideal hydrogen energy systems utilizing renewable energy sources for betterment of the global environment.
Research and development workshops are held quarterly and draw 70-100 attendees to discuss infrastructure, production, transportation storage safety and the
WE-NET Program. HESS also publishes a journal on research and development twice a year. HESS membership is comprised of academia and industry and has a total of 144 members. HESS is run by a twelve member Board of Directors with Dr. Kenichiro Ota of Yokohama National University serving as Board Chairman. A full list of Board members is included

The Annual Symposium of HESS will be held December 11 and 12, 2002 and will cover hydrogen related research, development, and demonstration.
The 15th World Hydrogen Energy Conference will be held in Yokohama, Japan June 27- July 2, 2004 and HESS is the host organization of the event.
